Born and raised in the heart of Metro Detroit’s legendary music scene, Nikkie Nocturnal’s journey through sound has been a steady evolution of passion, hustle, and unapologetic creativity.
It all began in 2015, when Nikkie first stepped behind the decks under the alias Hypnotic, channeling her deep-rooted love for house and techno into her earliest performances. Quickly gaining momentum, she immersed herself in the underground scene, developing her sound and building her reputation as both a DJ and community connector.
By 2017, Nikkie had claimed her first residency with Electric Fridays at Thunder Bowl Lanes in Allen Park, creating a space where local DJs and music lovers gathered to celebrate the sounds of house, techno and bass music. The following year, she leveled up with Hypnotic Thursdays at W. Cross Station Bar in Ypsilanti (2018), curating weekly lineups and booking guest DJs, further cementing her role as both an artist and tastemaker.
In 2019, her vision expanded with the launch of Science of Sound Productions, co-founded alongside After Dvrk. What started as a Detroit-based collective quickly grew, producing events that brought together diverse sounds and underground talent, eventually expanding to Orlando, Florida, and sparking the birth of Science of Sound Records.
While her events were flourishing, Nikkie was also making moves as a producer. In 2020, she independently released Take It Higher, marking her first official release and setting the stage for what was to come. Now fully embracing the Nikkie Nocturnal moniker, her music evolved into a fusion of spacey melodies, pulsating basslines, and hypnotic techno rhythms. Tracks like Space Drive & Lost In The Circuit teased listeners with glimpses of her ever-expanding sound.
As her profile grew, so did her commitment to building community. Over the years, she hosted monthly events like Nocturnal Nights and Deep Science of Sound Sessions, continuing to spotlight local talent and create spaces where music could thrive.
In January 2025, Nikkie launched her current and longest-running weekly residency, Industry Sundays at Garden Bowl in Detroit. Every Sunday night, the historic lanes transform into a haven for house heads, DJs, and industry folks to unwind, connect, and dance to the sounds she carefully curates.
Today, Nikkie Nocturnal stands as more than a DJ — she’s a producer, entrepreneur, event curator, and staple of Detroit’s underground culture. With her roots planted firmly in house and techno, her open-format approach ensures no genre remains untouched, and no crowd leaves uninspired.
The story isn’t over — it’s still building. Follow Nikkie Nocturnal as she continues to push boundaries, elevate sound, and create unforgettable experiences — both on and off the dance floor.
